The Treveccan
The Treveccan is the print alumni magazine for Trevecca Nazarene University.
Trevecca alum leads development of National Monument in Ala.
MAY 4, 1961, BIRMINGHAM, ALA. Snarling dogs, police officers with batons extended and segregationists with unbridled
hatred for people with dark skin and their sympathizers.
These are the things the Freedom Riders knew they were heading toward when they
boarded a bus in 1961 headed for Birmingham.
Anniston, Ala., was a stop on the way for the group—a chance to rest, refuel and escape
the confines of the bus after riding for 90 miles.
JULY 2017, ANNISTON, ALA.
The alarm clock reads 4 a.m., but Reggie Tiller doesn’t wait for it to sound. He is already
up and getting to work. He has a busy day ahead as the National Park Service administrator
in charge of developing the Freedom Riders National Monument.

Back to School: Trevecca's adult-student program celebrates 30 years
For most students, getting ready to go back to school looks like buying new pencils and folders, packing backpacks the night before class and getting to bed early.
For students in Trevecca's Bachelor of Arts in Management and Human Relations (MHR) program, however, going back to school looks like homework at midnight while the kids are asleep, getting dinner cooked for the family in between online lectures and tossing laundry in the dryer with one hand, a textbook in the other.
Celebrating 30 years this fall, Trevecca's MHR program was designed to offer working adult students an opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree based on individual needs. The program offers interdisciplinary and relevant curriculum with an emphasis on critical thinking, communication, self-awareness and personal development.
